The Mayorazgo Weather Forecast

The kids of 1º de ESO have become weather men and women and got inside the TV for this task. The children read us information about the weather for different countries around the globe, from England to the United States to Australia and France.

Just like watching television, there were also breaks for advertisements in between the weather forecasts and the children took it in turns to sell their products, taken from English commercials, such as Penguins, Creme Eggs and PG Tips!

They have learnt very specific vocabulary and useful expressions to talk about the weather in this activity as well as speaking in front of a camera/on the television! This was used as a pre-task as a means of warming up for the next task which is a visit to the Natural History Museum.

World Book Day

SOME PROJECTS

On the 23rd of April, we celebrate World Book Day to promote reading and to celebrate the richness of languages. All across the world, books are on sale and we commemorate the benefits of reading.

It is supposed that the two great writers Shakespeare and Cervantes both died on the 23rd of April and for that reason it is celebrated to honour these authors.

In Mayorazgo, we have had a sale on books with prices of 2 books for 1 euro for students. It is hoped that this will encourage the students to read more.

ROMEO AND JULIET

     SOME NICE SHOTS

The students of the 1º de ESO this semester have acted out the play ´Rome and Juliet´ by the world-famous English writer William Shakespeare.

It has been a huge success for the children, as they have learnt their lines and acted their roles very well. Also, it has given them a chance to work as a team and to perform in front of a lot of people and to lose their ´stage fright´.

The two main characters of Romeo and Juliet, played by Yosseff and Cristina, portrayed the part of the love-struck couple extremely well.

Other special roles were given to Paula as Juliet´s nurse, Andrés who was Friar Laurence and William who played the narrator as well as Lord Capulet and Mercutio!

The rest of the cast was:

Dolores as Paris

Estefanía as Benvolio (Rome´s cousin)

Margarita as Tybalt

Silvia as The prince of Verona

Pablo as Mercutio

Natalia as Friar John

Carmen as Lady Capulet

Sara as the other narrator

Javi as backstage/lights monitor

Congratulations to all of the students!

EASTER EGG HUNT 2014

To celebrate Easter, this year the students of the 1º de ESO did a traditional Easter egg hunt around the school.

The clues were written in English and only answers in English were accepted. The hunt started at the library and then lead the students to different rooms and teachers. The clues were about Maths, Science, History and English and the prize at the end were Easter eggs that were hidden in the cafeteria.

There were three teams in total: the boys- Andrés, Manu, William, Pablo and Yusseff; Paula, Estefanía and Carmen; and Cristina, Natalia and Margarita.

The winning team was the boys and they received an Easter Bunny chocolate.

The runner up received some chocolate eggs and the third team received a few chocolate eggs too.

Congratulations to everybody who participated!
Happy Easter 2014!

PEACE DAY/CELEBRACIÓN DEL DÍA DE LA PAZ

On 31st January our school celebrated Peace Day, and  for the occasion  our students of 1º ESO performed a play based on Rosa Park´s story.
On December 1st, 1955, civil rights activist Rosa Parks refused to surrender her bus seat to a white passenger, spurring the Montgomery boycott and other efforts to end segregation.

If you want to see our  youngest students belonging to the bilingual section acting out that day´s event, please click the link below.
